Field of Dreams

As we enter our 18th season of successful softball in the Butler County area, we begin looking toward the future of providing more.  Our league averages over 70 participants, but we realize that number could be much more if we could have a safer surface to play our games.  A safer and flat (rubberized) surface would allow individuals confined to wheel chairs or individuals that have great difficulty walking on uneven surfaces to participate.

We are extremely grateful for the amazing generosity of the Fairfield Civitan Club.  They have been donating the use of their softball fields for our softball league.  Without their assistance through the years, our league would not have been possible.

Looking toward the future, we are actively seeking a new location for our league, where we could construct up to three state-of-the-art rubberized, lighted baseball/softball fields.  Our targeted area is in the Fairfield/Hamilton area.

We look forward to making this dream a reality and expanding our softball program dramatically.

Check back often for developing news on this exciting project!

NEWS:

4-22-10  Thanks to Butler County Recycling and Litter Protection and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR)!  In December 2009 Butler County Recycling graciously agreed to partner with us and sponsored a grant focused on Scrap Tire Recycling.  Our rubberized top field surface will be contain recycled tires.  We learned today that ODNR has selected our project as a recipient for $100,000!

4-13-10  Thanks to the Jurgensen Companies!  The John R. Jurgensen Companies have graciously agreed to furnish and install asphalt materials that will provide the sub-surface for both of our fields.  This is more than 320 tons of asphalt!!!

3-30-10  Thanks to Duke Energy!  Duke Energy just awarded a $2,000 grant for the project.  Their funding will enable us to continue making our facility as "green" as possible.  We will utilize energy-efficient lighting throughout the facility.

3-27-10  Thank you  to the Butler County ARC!  The Board of Directors of the Butler County ARC generously voted to contribute $2,500 towards our project!

1-11-10   Special thanks to DH Architects, Bayer-Becker and Dallis Homes for their work on the planning of the Field of Dreams Complex.  The final drawings will be completed within weeks.  From that point, we will release the drawings to the public and work towards raising the remaining funds necessary to build the field!

12-10-09  Special thanks to PR Visions, a public relations group from Miami University.  These students have been working hard for months on putting together a comprehensive public relations package to assist with promoting the Field of Dreams project.  In addition, they have worked to provide some items that we'll be using for future events.
